Drift Away
This creative well-being project worked with a group of 5 yr olds and their parents/carers to improve emotional health and well-being by building self-efficacy, better understanding and expression of emotions and to improve behaviours, including poor sleep patterns.
This project is our first working with early years and parents/carers. Using well-loved bedtime story books as a focus for creative activities, over 12 weeks we: created content working in a range of inspiring locations; learned healthy sleep habits; and developed positive family relationships.
We taught parents/carers behaviour management techniques through observing our staff modelling such as how to: expand ability for young people to interact with the world around them through using creativity, provide a new set of skills for self-expression and communication and give opportunity for marginalised voices to be heard, loud and clear, in the role of expert.
Families co-produced a podcast by the end of programme to feature bedtime stories, personal testimonies, relaxing ASMR recordings and top tips to support parents.
This work was commissioned by 0-19 Torbay and NHS Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust.
