Sound Futures
UK Shared Prosperity Fund - People and Skills and Sector Pathways Programme
Sound Futures is an employability project funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The project uses creative digital media, music and radio-based opportunities as a tool to engage and inspire young people into raising their aspirations and supporting them to believe in themselves so that they can improve their chances in life and face their futures with more resilience and enable them to get work ready.
This initiative addresses the challenges young people in Torbay face—such as low aspirations, feelings of marginalization, and limited opportunities—while meeting the needs of local businesses by improving communication and decision-making skills.
With over 11 years working within the NEET sector in Torbay, our approach to delivery focuses on relationship-based interventions with young people who are marginalised and have been failed previously by numerous systems in their life. It emphasises intensive, wrap-around one-to-one support alongside group work and further supplemented by additional life, wellbeing and basic skills training to get participants work ready.
Our understanding and proven approach to tackling low aspirations, feelings of youth being left behind, and poor social mobility aligns with our vision and current offer of a community wealth-building approach to create jobs and boost community cohesion.
Sound Futures aligns with our mission to create employment opportunities and strengthen community ties through a comprehensive community wealth-building strategy.
