FAQs 

How does it work? Over the course of 4 days (4 hours a day for 4 consecutive days) you are taken through a programme of learning led by one of our senior team. You’ll discuss what makes a good leader, understand different leadership styles, learn about the importance of equality and diversity, safeguarding, principles of good communication, learn about different learning styles, explore delivery methods for engaging young learners, think about what issues can be addressed within youth-led sessions, evaluation techniques, and practice planning and delivering your own session on a topic of your own choice.  

What will I get out of it? Past participants have reported increased self-confidence and improvement in their ability to stand in front of others to speak. The qualification is an excellent talking point on a CV or on higher education applications. 

Are Level 2 qualifications useful? For many, Level 2 courses serve as a critical stepping-stone to further or higher education. Upon completion, you are eligible to pursue Level 3 courses, apprenticeships, or other higher-level qualifications. This route ensures you have a solid foundation in the career pathway you have chosen but can also provide inspiration for next steps if you aren’t sure.  

Who is the course for? Any 15-19 year olds looking to increase their confidence, make friends and learn more about themselves. The course is particularly relevant to any young people interested in developing their skills in a creative learning environment. Participants get to work collaboratively in small supportive groups and learn how to plan and deliver a session on a subject of their own choice. 

How much does it cost? This course is completely FREE as it is funded by Youth Music, CIN, RCC and NCS.

This course will… 

• Teach you how to lead a group of young people in a creative environment  

• Be a role model for other young people 

• Enhance your speaking + listening skills + support less able speakers to express themselves 

• Teach you how to engage young people in learning  

• Help you learn to take a lead and use own or direct peer group initiative in delivery of youth-led sessions 

• Enable you to identify and use three active listening techniques, such as: open questions + prompting 

• Teach you to plan a structured 45 minute youth-led session to deliver to others 

• Develop your ability to deliver and evaluate a youth-led session
