Calorie Labelling Policy Workshops

Paid Opportunity with University of Exeter

Are you a young person with opinions about the food you buy? We want to hear from you! Join our after school workshops focused on exploring young people’s views on calorie labelling on food items. Not only will you have a platform to share your insights, but you’ll also get paid for your valuable contributions!

We have teamed up with Exeter University to run a research project to find out about what young people think about the government’s Calorie Labelling Policy, introduced in 2021 in an effort to help improve the nation’s health. You can read more about the policy here.

Why are we doing this study?

We would like to understand what young people:

  • Know about the government Calorie Labelling Policy on foods, sold in restaurants, cafes, and fast food outlets
  • Think about the policy
  • Feel is important to you about your local food environment.

What will I be doing when I take part?

Young people involved will be given cameras to take pictures and discuss them with others in focus groups. Then, your photos will be curated and put together to celebrate your work in an exhibition that you will be able to invite your friends and family to.

You will be asked to attend five workshops at Sound Communities premises and invited to take part in a celebratory photography exhibition.

Be a future decision-maker

The information gathered during the workshops will help to inform national and local food and planning policy, particularly those policies affecting young people. The results of the study will also help shape future research in the field.
