Sound Futures

Employability project funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund

'

The Sound Futures project uses creative digital media, music and radio-based opportunities as a tool to engage and inspire young people into raising their aspirations and supporting them to believe in themselves so that they can improve their chances in life and face their futures with more resilience and enable them to get work ready.

Participants in Sound Futures will get to enjoy one-on-one and group sessions, where they’ll work together on projects leading up to their own event, performance, broadcast, or another final project they choose. Sound Communities has been helping young people in Torbay for over 11 years, focusing on building strong relationships with those who’ve often been let down by the system before.

The program will support each person individually while also encouraging teamwork. On top of that, there are extra sessions to boost life skills, wellbeing, and essential skills to help participants get job-ready. This approach tackles problems like low expectations, feelings of being left behind, and poor chances for moving up in the world. It matches our goals of creating job opportunities and strengthening community bonds through a community wealth-building plan.
