A youth-led online radio station bringing young people across Torbay together
Ocean Youth was born in 2012 at Parkfield in Paignton. It is a youth-led online radio station which brings young people across Torbay together to make music and radio, build friendships, learn skills and develop a creative and engaging social action community. Ocean Youth supports Torbay’s young people through helping them to share experiences through broadcasting content on topics such as anxiety, sexual abuse, bullying, addiction, and stress.
Ocean Together, our outreach programme in our new Boom Bus, travels to youth clubs across Torbay. Ocean Youth broadcasts at community events including Grinagog, The Ageing Well Festival and around Paignton Carnival. Since the station began we’ve had over 85,968 listens .
- Develop young people's creativity

- Develop young people's aspirations and skills
- Increase awareness of events and support for young people
- Develop intergenerational understanding in Torbay
It's quite outstanding what Ocean Youth Radio has achieved – specifically targeting Children and Young People. There is a clear, transformative effect and I believe this station could well serve to be a best practice model for engaging CYP in certain areas across the UK to develop skills. This is incredibly valuable work and brilliant platforms to further reach CYP. Well done to all the team involved, you've got my vote!
