Broadcasting 24/7 Listen Live

This Is Us

An intensive and responsive programme of digital arts and media production.

This project will support 40 underserved young people in a 12-week intensive programme of creative learning, mentoring and skills development in lyric writing, music and video production, broadcasting, performing, singing, rapping, beatboxing, live-looping and spoken word.

The programme will be enhanced by visiting inspiring artists from across the UK that focus on identity and storytelling.

We will encourage and support them to share their work through releasing EPs, social media channels/platforms, radio broadcasts, studio audiences and public performances..

Group One

She + Us
We worked with the She + Us group creating their own radio show and podcasts. Over the 12 weeks, they learned how to create jingles, write and produce their own music, host a radio show and interview guests. They also put together mini podcasts about what it’s like being a girl in the world today and their thoughts on Paignton and living in Torbay. We invited a professional podcast producer, Jesse Lawson, to come and join for a session and show them some tricks of the trade and how they can make it into a profession themselves. The project culminated in a live broadcast, where they presented their mini podcasts, interviews and original music to the live audience. You can listen here to their show.

PHAB TV

PHAB TV was created as part of the This Is Us project. We commissioned the wonderful Doorstep Arts to work alongside us and support PHAB’s amazing young people, develop their acting skills and bring their awesome ideas about life as a young person in Torbay to life.

To celebrate the great success of the project, we held a red carpet event-the ‘World Premier’ of PHAB TV at Sound Communities. It was a fantastic excuse to put on our glad rags, order in a buffet, watch the first screening and dance the night away at the after show party.

After the final scene, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
